Zhuhai Fish Processing Cold Storage Demand Summary

The client’s processing plan is to produce 45 tons per day, but the demands for the two phases of the project are different. The Phase 1 project requires quick construction and production, while the Phase 2 project has a large freezing capacity and needs to reduce the freezing power consumption per ton of product by 40% while ensuring daily usage. Energy-saving requirements for the equipment have been clearly stated.

Fish processing cold storage

Phase 1 will construct 2 sets of fan-assisted quick-freezing rooms and a marinating room, using a direct expansion refrigeration system. The goal is to quickly start production in a short time to address the urgent demand for increased capacity during the peak season.

Phase 2 will build a double-spiral quick-freezing room and 3 sets of -18°C finished product cold storage rooms. A full-liquid bucket pump system will be used, connected to Phase 1 equipment, and Ice Spring’s unique technology will perfectly meet the client's energy-saving requirements.

Client Background

The client is the world’s largest producer of Basa fish and an advocate and pioneer of the entire Basa fish industry chain. Their farming area spans 6.2 million hectares, with a production capacity of 1,000 tons of fish fillets, and they have 32 storage centers globally.

The client established a production base in southern China, mainly processing and selling Basa fish, including raw materials, deep-processed products, and by-products. They also supply Qingjiang fish, black fish, sea bass, and other products. The entire production process follows strict standards and quality requirements, making the company one of quality and strength.

Ice Spring has designed, built, and supplied the client with two phases of large-scale projects. Phase 1 includes quick-freezing rooms, marinating rooms, cold-water units, and other auxiliary equipment. Phase 2 includes a double-spiral quick-freezing room, a 600m² cold storage room, and a quick-freezing room.

Client Requirements

The client’s processing plan is to produce 45 tons per day, but the demands for the two phases of the project differ.

  • Phase 1 requires quick construction and production.
  • Phase 2 has a large freezing capacity and needs to reduce the power consumption per ton by 40% while ensuring daily operational requirements. The client has made clear energy-saving demands.

Phase 1 will construct 2 sets of fan-assisted quick-freezing rooms and a marinating room, using a direct expansion refrigeration system. The goal is to quickly start production to meet the urgent needs of the peak season.

Phase 2 will build a double-spiral quick-freezing room and 3 sets of -18°C finished product cold storage rooms. A full-liquid bucket pump system will be used, connected to Phase 1 equipment. Ice Spring’s unique technology will then meet the client’s energy-saving demands perfectly.

System Advantages

  • The compressors adopt a parallel design, automatically selecting the number of compressors to activate based on the number of cold rooms and the required cooling capacity. Valve designs control the system, with compressors serving as backups for each other, enhancing the system’s reliability.
  • The full-liquid system’s evaporators have higher evaporation heat exchange efficiency. For the same evaporator surface area, the bucket pump’s cooling effect is 25%–30% better than direct expansion systems.
  • The full-liquid system uses a fluorine pump to overcome part of the system’s resistance losses and allow for long-distance liquid supply.
  • Integrated, innovative oil separation, cooling, and return oil technology ensure that the equipment’s cooling performance does not degrade over time, and prevent oil from reaching the low-pressure system.
